The SATO  games  are  sporting activities held annually by the Southern African Teachers Organization member unions, where individual unions in each country assemble sports teams that will gather with other teams from different  countries  for the purposes  of  competing against each other. Winning members are awarded with medals and trophies in their capacities as Unions and  or , as individual participants.

The games which are held in the spirit of solidarity amongst the teachers’ unions   are also a platform for unions to exchange cultural activities and works. In that light, a cultural evening will be held on the night of the 27th. Individual member unions are expected to present their cultural  works and show off in their cultural attire, displaying the unique Zimbabwean way of traditional dressing.

The SATO games were held in Namibia last year and also in Zimbabwe the previous year. The hosting of the games is meant to  rotate to  all SATO countries.
