ZIMTA Conference seeks to promote Quality Public Education PDF Print E-mail
 
The ZIMTA 33rd Annual National Conference kicked off in Harare on the 21st of April under the theme, Quality Tools, Quality Environment and Quality Teachers, A Must for Public Education.

The theme which seeks mainly to address quality public education also underlines the three pillars of quality education which have been depicted by the Education International (EI) Global Campaign for Quality Education as, the Teacher, the Tools for learning and teaching and the Environment.
 
The theme   for the conference seeks to focus on a number of issues, which are first the teachers as individuals, the infrastructure under which they operate  and also their environment under which learning and teaching must take place.
 
ZIMTA as the largest teacher trade union in Zimbabwe seeks to address the issues around  the provision of quality public education and the components that contribute to it, particularly as we come close to the close of the millennium development goals in 2015.

ZIMTA delegates carrying  mandates from other ZIMTA members from the provinces across the country attended  the  ZIMTA 33rd Annual National Conference for 2014. International  and regional teacher trade union representatives from the Southern African teachers' Organisation (SATO)  also  attended the meeting.
 
 
The ZIMTA national conference is the supreme decision making body where members table resolutions and recommendations   made by members attending the provincial annual general meetings, for adoption.
 
When the   resolutions and recommendations are adopted at the National Conference, then the conference decisions become applicable to all ZIMTA structures, systems and the whole membership as ZIMTA continues to abide by its values of transparency and democracy among other values.
