ZIMTA prepares for the 2013 National Conference Print

The 2013, highly awaited ZIMTA Annual National Conference will be held from 22 to 24 April and it shall be hosted by the Midlands province.

The theme forthe 2013 conference is, "Empowering the nation through the use of indigenous knowledge"

ZIMTA conferences are normally characterizedby intense discussions on issues affecting the education sector, issues of educators' welfare and conditions of service, as key topics among many others.


The year 2013 is an elections year expected to usher in new leadership in executive posts for the Association's national positions.

The Association Chief Executive Officer,Mr. Sifiso Ndlovu said, " reports reaching the national head office have so far indicated that all nomination processes were followed and now the membership is eagerly waiting to see national conference elect the ultimate leaders to lead the organization for the next four years."


Other critical issues such as the increased participation of women and uptake of leadership post in of trade union will be discussed. ZIMTA's youth policy will also be analyzed. The use of social networks in communication, running projects on empowerment, capacity building and also other critical issues that delegates might deem necessary to discuss at conference level.


Traditionally, ZIMTA conferences have attracted as many as 300 delegates from the representatives of its membership who are mostly teachers, lecturers, personnel in education and others. Stakeholders from business, government, the education sector, labour groups and unions also attend the conferences among other high ranking dignitaries from the international, regional and local communities.
